Colour Genetics

We hope to use these pages to explain the genetics of our favourite colours, or those we have bred, or those which get confused with those we own/breed.

We hope this may help to explain what a colour really is, both genetically and with it’s correct terminology.

We have been learning ourselves about the basics of genetics, so that we can understand what colour possibilities can come from a particular mating, and why a foal has emerged rather different from what was imagined!!! It has been a puzzling journey, which we are still only just beginning, and we hope to shed light for others as we learn ourselves.
