Saffi was a beautiful blue dun mare, who had everything to offer us that we could have asked for. She was quite a sensitive, shy mare, yet very beautifully natured. She loved foals, and was always looking after the foals of other mares. She was desperate to have her own, and once she finally had her own baby, she was a wonderful mother. Even then, we would often find her out in the field, running a foal nursery, with all the foals gathered, playing around her & her own beautiful baby. Sadly, when her foal, Varkies Valko, was just four weeks old, she became desperately ill, and despite admittance to hospital, and the fight our vets put up to save her, it became too much for her body, and within 36 hours, she was gone. She is desperately missed, but lives on in her colt, who looks so much like her, whom we have hand reared, and now plan to run on.
